Coach Bill Bowerman and University of Oregon student track athlete Phil Knight founded Nike on January 25, 1964, in Eugene, Oregon. Originally called Blue Ribbon Sports, they distributed for Onitsuka Tiger, a Japanese shoemaker. Today, Nike is a multinational corporation with offices in roughly 45 countries. They design, develop, manufacture, market and sell worldwide, online and in brick-and-mortar stores. Their specialties are services, accessories, equipment and apparel. Footwear is their original and most iconic product category. Their Swoosh logo, representing motion and speed, is among the most recognizable and universal.
